About me

Hello there!

As blogger has suggested, I thought I'd share a little bit more about myself. My reasons are threefold; first, I do like to chat; second, it may mean that some of the things I mention in the blog actually make sense; and third, sharing is caring...right?

Having grown up in Sydney, Australia with the most excellent family one could wish for, there are a few things that have stuck securely and happily in my heart. Faith is one, and as much as I make a numpty of myself and get things mixed up often, it is most definitely the most important. Starting this blog, I had many an inner conversation where I would stare blankly into space and concern those in the near vicinity in regards to my wellbeing. I was trying to figure out if it should be a 'Christian blog', or a 'not-Christian blog' (technical jargon at its best), when it hit me like someone smacking me in the face, although in a much more pleasant fashion. The Christian life is not one that can be compartmentalised, nor should it be. If anything, words sometimes (but not always) need not even be used, as it becomes obvious that this belief in God changes things. Words will obviously need to be used in this media, otherwise we would be left with quite the boring blog. But it doesn't mean the pretty things are less desirable, or that perfection becomes standard. What it does mean is life should be different. It should be about honouring God in everything I do, no matter how insignificant. It means that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control should be valued much higher than things like wealth, power, and material items.

As well as that decision being made, with the bonus of minimising internal conversations (at least for the moment), there are a few other things shaping my life in the present day.

I have recently become a wife (after the most SPLENDID of romances...do have a sneaky peek read here, here, here and here), moved from my homeland, shut down my business, become supernaturally patriotic, and a few other things besides. The boy is the pastor of our local church which brings in a whole other level of intrigue and suspense (exciting eh?), and I am feeling creatively flummoxed. Scotland is where I now do my grocery shopping and remain cold 97.2% of the time, and homesickness comes and goes like the tides. But in a much less romatic fashion.

I don't know much about life, and what I do know I'm learning at a rate of knots (a saying I don't particularly understand, but I believe means really, really fast). What I am holding on to, however, is more precious than anything this earth has to offer. It is a God who will never leave me alone, who will always protect me, fight for me and love me more than I have ever known. Which I do believe makes for a fairly good story in itself!

However. Do please let me add to it with my attempt to be the wife, the long-distance daughter/sister/grand-daughter/aunty/friend, the local employee, the culturally confused Australian (sometimes confused with Poland or Canada*), and the one bedroom flat owner with a penchant for beautiful things (I won't lie, it's causing problems).

The law of the LORD is perfect,
   refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
   making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
   giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
   giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
   enduring forever.
The decrees of the LORD are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
   than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
   than honey from the honeycomb.

Psalm 19:7-10
